Opening Night Party

A prominent, social event with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and an evening filled with the opportunity to browse the area’s finest collections of antiques and decorative arts. All proceeds from the evening will go towards the fund-raising efforts for Family & Children’s Services of Central Maryland.

Lecture Event

The Maryland Antiques Show of Hunt Valley proudly presents José Solís Betancourt & Paul Sherrill, the owners of  Solis Betancourt & Sherrill as our Guest Lecturers. The pair will speak about “Elegant Transformations” with before and after photographs and detail on many of the prestigious homes they have worked to transform.

Mr. Solís Betancourt & Mr. Sherrill have been influential American designers for the past 20 years. They are distinguished members of the Washington DC’s Design Center Hall of Fame. Their work has been featured in national and international publications including Architectural Digest, House and Garden, House Beautiful, Southern Accents, The New York Times Magazine, and The Washington Post Magazine.

Mr. Solis Betancourt & Mr. Sherrill are active supporters of charities and we are thrilled and grateful to have their support for our show and FCS. Their work can be seen in greater detail in their recently published book, Essential Elegance: The Interiors of Solis Betancourt. Advance copies of the book will be available for $35. Following the lecture, Mr. Betancourt and Mr. Sherrill will be available to sign copies of his book, which may also be purchased at the event for $45.

New Collectors’ Soiree

A high energy evening for new collectors or anyone who wants to learn a little more about how to use antiques in today’s homes. The evening kicks off with a Scotch and Maryland wine tasting accompanied by a selection of delicious hors d’ouevres. Then, explore the Show with Deborah Gore Dean, renowned antiques store owner and decorator, who will illustrate tasteful and accessible ways to decorate with the Show’s treasures. All beverages for this event are being generously donated by Fairgrounds Discount Beverages.

Private Show Tour

A recognized expert in 19th and 20th century antiques, Mr. Abbott will walk through the show with a small, private group (limited to 25 attendees), highlighting pieces and explaining their importance. Children’s Show Tour

It’s never too early to delight future collectors with artifacts from our collective history. The Show will be presented to chaperoned children, ages 7 – 13, in ways that they will understand and appreciate. Children will be delighted, entertained, and educated by Dr. Thomas Bruggman, child psychologist and graduate of Sotheby’s. The tour is limited to 15 children. Appraisal

Dust off your treasures and learn about hidden gems you might not know you have. Join us for a lively appraisal event led by J. Michael Flanigan and Paul Winicki, who have each appeared numerous times as appraisers on PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow”. These esteemed experts will highlight pieces to the group and then appraise items individually. You will have an opportunity to speak with the experts thereafter. (Limit two items per ticket. Additional pieces $10 per items).
