Family and Child Services of Central Maryland

For over 160 years, FCS has provided vital services to families and individuals throughout central Maryland. Last year we served over 8,000 clients through eighteen programs in thirteen locations, offering counseling to adults and children dealing with the trauma of physical or sexual abuse; an after-school program that builds self-esteem (as well as science, computer and dancing skills) in middle-school girls from low-income homes; a GED program combined with parenting skills training for teen mothers; support and companionship for senior citizens through in-home care and an adult day care center program; and temporary housing with a family for children in the public foster care system.

In this tight economy, funding for private non-profit agencies is harder to find. Only 80% of our budget comes from government grants and the purchase of service contracts. Fundraising efforts must generate 5%. Money raised by the Hunt Valley Antiques Show Preview Party and Lecture is our single largest source of unrestricted funding, and is vital to our ongoing success.

The need for the services we offer children, families, the elderly and disabled continues to grow. Please visit our website, www.fcsmd.org, to learn more about how we assist our clients with these critical challenges, and how you can help. Thank you for supporting the Hunt Valley Antiques Show and Family and Children’s Services of Central Maryland.
